Unless you are born with a certain destiny, like perhaps Prince Charles was born to be King, there has been no real plan from when you were born to where you are today.
Our parents and teachers have helped protect and guide us along the way, and helped give us the tools to start out on our own path of life – although you may not be the ballet dancer or train driver you envisaged as a child.
Personal Journey
In my case I left school at 16 to join the Army, but a month before joining I changed my mind and became an Accountant, and ten years later a Financial Adviser (1991).
Today, almost 30 years later, my business has grown and expanded into other areas, but my first love remains – Financial Planning. I have been the architect of my career, but it couldn’t have been done without the support of my wife of over 37 years, a Management Team who, apart from one, have been with me for over 10 years, and a team of specialists. Oh, and a lot of hard work, long hours and an awful lot of exams.
Was it easy? No, much harder than I expected, but I can see what it’s taken for me to get here and I know what my future plans are.
What about you?
You didn’t arrive where you are today by luck (even if luck played a part). The decisions you made, good, bad and indifferent, have brought you to where you are today.
Do you have regrets? Possibly.
Is it too late to change the past? Possibly.
Is it too late to change the future? Probably not.
Do you know what you want your future to look like? Possibly not.
The pandemic has given everyone the opportunity to recognise what’s important to them, be that family time, holidays or the need to do more.
Take time to reflect on what’s important to you and those you love. If you want to talk, and plan for the future you now want, give us a call.
Life may have been a misadventure, but isn’t it now time for a bit more focus?
